Hand throw switches can report their state directly to locomotives if equipped with
a MeteorComm radio. With a base station, several hand throw switch sites can be
covered and reported to dispatch. The MCC-545C Packet Data Radio periodically reports
its hand thrown switch state to dispatch through the base station. If the switch
state is changed, the new state is reported immediately.
Interfacing does not require use of circuit controllers. There are other means ranging
from placing metal proximity sensors on or near the switch points to placing them
on or near the throw lever to any contact closure. MeteorComm will adapt its products
to your requirements. For example, if you have a solar powered track circuit in
dark territory, the MCC-545C can readily be interfaced to it.
