MeteorComm's vision is to provide wireless solutions to the railroad industry for
making timely, informed decisions to enhance productivity, safety awareness and
profitability. MeteorComm radios are used to equip locomotives, MOW vehicles, signals,
switches and other wayside devices allowing seamless wireless connectivity to Dispatch,
as well as between assets. BNSF has relied upon MeteorComm radios and network protocol
to provide wireless communications for their Hy-Rail Limits Compliance System (HLCS)
and their Electronic Train Management System (ETMS). Alaska Railroad has installed
a MeteorComm network and outfitted its locomotives with MeteorComm radios.
MeteorComm's unique advantage is the MBNet 200 network protocol that's been engineered
and perfected over the last 30 years. Originally designed for meteor burst communications,
it is robust and highly efficient. Some of the major features of the MeteorComm
protocol is its peer-to-peer communication, 90% utilization of a single channel,
a single software programmable radio and an open architecture for hosting client
applications.
