Meteorcomm provides interfaces for signals, switches and track circuits. Signal
interfaces connect to existing signal wiring non-intrusively through the use of
Hall Effect current sensors. The MCC-545C performs periodic self-test on Hall Effect
devices to verify their correct operation. Failures are reported to dispatch and
the radio reports a fail safe "unknown" aspect to the locomotive.
Meteorcomm peer-to-peer communication provides real-time signal aspect, switch state
and track circuit status information directly from the wayside to the locomotive.
There is no intermediary network standing between locomotive and wayside, ensuring
fast delivery and greater reliability.
Wayside status and aspect information is delivered not only to the locomotive, but
also to dispatch. Status and aspect information is reported periodically and whenever
status and/or aspect changes occur.
The system has an open and nonproprietary interface architecture which means that
any dispatch and train control system can be interfaced to the Meteorcomm RF network.
Meteorcomm can provide customized solutions to fit customer's requirements.
